   13. Toxic Substances, Hazardous Materials and Weapons CCF Handbook, Section 3.2 (13-02)

   The facilitys storage of harmful items including cleaning supplies, flammable products, and poisonous, toxic and hazardous materials allowed access by children in care. CCF Handbook, Section 3.2, B Physical Environment [SR] Comments: Licensing Specialist observed Air freshener and 2 diaper creams stored in the diaper changing area in the class that had 4 children present, ages Infant to 3-Year-Old, items were at the children level. TA was provided: Licensing Specialist discuss requirements with the staff responsible. Staff responsible placed items on a high shelf and above the children level, thus returning this standard into compliance at the time of this inspection. 3.2 Toxic/Hazardous Material/Firearms/Weapons A. All areas and surfaces accessible to children must be free from toxic substances, bio contaminants, and hazardous materials/equipment/tools, including power tools, plastic bags, matches, candles, lighters, etc. B. All potentially harmful items, including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials, must be labeled and used according to manufacturers recommendation. These items, as well as knives, sharp tools, and other potentially dangerous hazards, must be stored in a locked area or must be inaccessible and out of a childs reach at all times. C. Firearms and weapons, as defined in section 790.001, F.S., are prohibited within any building or upon any person located on the premises, excluding federal, state or local law enforcement officers. D. Narcotics, alcohol, or other impairing drugs/paraphernalia must not be present on the premises or in vehicles used by child care facility.
