CCF Handbook, Section 3.2, B (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Physical Environment [SR] Comments: During the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that the kitchen door was closed and unlocked, and the classroom door adjacent to the kitchen was open with children ages 2-5 years old in the classroom. The licensing specialist then observed a kitchen knife with food residue on the counter within reach of children. The teacher in the three year old classroom stated that she was preparing breakfast and forgot the knife on the counter. A photo was taken during the time of the inspection. The standard was resolved at time of inspection when the Owner washed the knife and placed it in a container out of reach of children. 3.2.B All potentially harmful items, including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials, must be labeled and used according to manufacturers recommendation. These items, as well as knives, sharp tools, and other potentially dangerous hazards, must be stored in a locked area or must be inaccessible and out of a childs reach at all times. 14. Personnel are required to be educated on the facilitys exposure plan regarding standard precautions before beginning to work and annually thereafter.
