During nap time, lighting was insufficient to visually observe and supervise children. CCF Handbook, Section 3.3.1, C Physical Environment [SR] Comments: At the time of inspection, the Licensing specialist observed the VPK classroom during nap time with no lighting. The specialist opened the lobby door heading into the classroom and the lobby lighting let in some light. The specialist advised the provider that the classroom was too dark and did not have adequate lighting for proper nap time supervision. The specialist suggested the provider turn on the bathroom lights and leave the doors open to add lighting to the classroom. The specialist noticed small flash lights added to the wall of the back of the classroom but the lighting did not add sufficient lighting. The specialist reminded the provider that lighting is required to offer proper supervision while children are sleeping. The provider turned on the bathroom lights at time of inspection. The specialist also suggested adding additional lighting as needed to ensure lighting was sufficient for all areas of the classroom and also advised the spacing of the children if the provider was not able to add additional lighting. The provider felt the bathroom lighting was adequate and stated they would turn on the lights in the bathroom for lighting during nap time.
