Meals and/or snacks supplied by the facility did not meet the daily nutritional needs of the children in care in that [ individually packaged snack food items stored in the classrooms throughout the facility.]. CCF Handbook, Section 3.9.3, B Comments: At the time of inspection, the Licensing specialist observed individually packaged snack food items stored in the classrooms throughout the facility. The provider advised that they accept parent donations monthly for morning snack. The specialist advised if children are offered any other food item along with the snacks observed. The provider advised no. The specialist advised that snacks must include 2 food groups. The specialist and provider discussed some additional food items/ beverages that can be added to meet the requirement. The The provider sent a staff to a nearby store and the provider purchased individual 100 % apple juice to add the second food group to todays snack. The provider advised that going forward they will provide juice with snack food items, daily. Clean, sanitary drinking water was not available to all children. CCF Handbook, Section 3.9.8 Comments: At the time of inspection, the Licensing specialist observed pitchers of water stored in each classroom. The specialist asked the provider what the source of water was. The provider advised that the water came from the tap. The specialist advised that children must be provided clean and sanitary drinking water. The specialist and provider discussed forms of sources that can be used to offer sanitary water. The provider sent a staff to a nearby store and the provider purchased bottles jugs of water at time of inspection to replace the water for the day in each classroom. In the future the provider advised that they will invest in a water filtration system, Brita for long term use. Child care personnel including volunteers who work 10 hours or more per month did not complete the 40 hour Introductory Child Care Training requirement. CCF Handbook Section 4.2.1 Comments: At the time of inspection, the Licensing specialist determined that the child care personnel listed on the supplemental did not complete 40 hour DCF introductory training courses. The staff started in the industry on 2/1/2023. The specialist determined that the staff listed as other personnel is a substitute for employee. The staff does not work more than 10 hours a month and is not usually left unsupervised. However, she is the lead teacher and has exceeded 12 months in the industry offering services to children in direct supervision.
