    Background screening was not completed: [ every five years after the initial screening.] CCF Handbook, Section 5.2 (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Record Keeping [SR] Comments: During the time of inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that 1 staff member had not completed their 5yr background re-screening. Licensing Specialist informed the Director. The staff was not on site at the time of inspection. Licensing Specialist did inform Director that staff unable to work alone with children until background screening cleared. CCF Handbook Section 5.2 Re-Screening A screening conducted under this rule is valid for five years, at which time a re-screenmust be conducted in the same manner as the initial screening. Child Care Facility Handbook Page | 53 A. The five-year re-screen is required for all childcare personnel. B. The five-year re-screen must include, at a minimum, a criminal records check (both national and statewide), a sexual predator and sexual offender registry search, and child abuse and neglect history of any state in which an individual resided during the preceding 5 years. C. Childcare personnel must be re-screened following a break in employment in the childcare industry that exceeds 90 days. Childcare personnel/individual with a break in service that exceeds 90 days are considered unscreened childcare personnel/individuals until completion of re-screening. These childcare personnel/individuals shall not have unsupervised contact with children in care. D. If childcare personnel take a leave of absence, such as maternity leave, extended sick leave, migrant childcare programs, etc. re- screening is not required unless the five-year re-screen comes due during the leave of absence.
