A vehicle(s) used to transport children did not have the required alarm system installed to prompt the driver to inspect the vehicle for children before exiting the vehicle. CCF Handbook, Section 2.5.4 Comments: The two vans had the alarms by the side sliding and not on the back. Licensing reviewed the vans manual that stated the alarm should be place on near the back door. Licensing provided technical assistance explaining Pursuant to the Child Safety Alarm bill in 2021, all vehicles used to transport children by child care facilities and large family child care homes must be equipped with a reliable alarm system which prompts the driver to inspect the vehicle for children before exiting the vehicle. The alarm system must be installed so that the driver must walk to the back of the vehicle to reach the deactivation mechanism. Deactivation mechanisms installed in locations that do not require the driver to walk to the back of the vehicle and view all seating areas will not be acceptable. 2. CCF Handbook, Section 2.4 Comments: The Early Learning Coalition observed five incidents in which children walked to the restroom from the classroom without supervision. On one occasion, a child left the classroom alone and was alone in the hallway. The occurrence happened again with another child, and the teacher came afterward.
