   03. Personnel Training Group: Sec. 7-30, Ordinance and DCF Handbook (03-05)

   Sec 7-30(a)(3), Ordinance: All child care personnel who provide care to infants at child care facilities shall, prior to caring for such infants, successfully complete the most current training course approved by the local licensing agency relating to providing an infant safe sleep environment, as identified on the local licensing agencys website. The owner of a child care facility must ensure that all such child care personnel are in compliance with the training requirements of this section, and that such training is renewed every 2 years, in the same manner as provided for the initial training. Successful completion of the required training must be evidenced by a certificate, or any equivalent documentation, issued by the applicable training organization in the name of the individual who completed the course and indicating the date the course was completed. Documentation evidencing compliance with the training requirements under this section shall be included in the individual's personnel file maintained at the child care facility. Child care personnel working with infants did not have the required training. Comments: At the time of inspection, the licensing monitor observed child care personnel working with infants did not have the required training. The licensing monitor brought this concern to the attention of the director and infant teachers. The director was able to email proof of safe sleep training completion after renewal inspection, bringing this violation into compliance.    Sec. 7-38(b)(4) and (5), Ordinance: Infants shall not be placed for napping or sleeping in any car safety seat, bean bag chair, bouncy seat, infant seat, swing, jumping chair, highchair, chair, futon, sofa, or any other type of furniture or equipment that does not meet the State Requirements for cribs and play yards. Infants who arrive at the facility asleep in a car safety seat must be immediately removed from the seat by the parent or the child care personnel and placed on their backs in a safe sleep environment. An infant was observed sleeping outside of a crib/play yard. Comments: There was an infant observed sleeping in a swing. The teacher removed the child.    3.8.2 (A), Handbook: Unless statutorily exempted, all child care facilities must conform to state standards adopted by the State Fire Marshal, Chapter 69A-36, F.A.C., Uniform Standards for Life Safety and Fire Prevention in Child Care Facilities. A copy of the current and approved annual fire inspection report completed by a certified fire inspector must be on file with the licensing authority. The facility has not been inspected and approved by the local fire department as required. Comments: The fire inspection was conducted on 3/4/24. A new fire inspection is required. The fire extinguishers were serviced on 7/24. Compliance Comments The fire drill was conducted on 1/21/25 Technical assistance was provided to document all fire drills on the emergency preparedness drill log.
