The play equipment was not maintained in a safe or sanitary condition for the children to use in that [There were exposed screws and damaged wood which could cause harm/injury to the children. ]. CCF Handbook, Section 3.12, B and F (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Sanitation and Equipment [SR] Comments: During the time of inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed one of the portable playhouses on the playground to have exposed screws and damaged wood on the inside of the roof which may cause harm/injury to a child. The Provider removed the playhouse from the playground and disposed of it. This standard was brought back into compliance. Per CCF Handbook Section 3.12, B, F Outdoor Equipment B. All playground equipment must be securely anchored, unless portable or stationary by design, in good repair, maintained in safe and sanitary condition, and placed to ensure safe use by the children. Maintenance must include inspections conducted every month of all supports above and below the ground and of all connectors and moving parts. Documentation of maintenance inspections must be maintained for 12 months. F. All equipment used in the outdoor play area must be constructed and maintained according to manufacturers recommendations and allow for water drainage. The ground cover or other protective surface under the [(2) swing areas on the playground] was not maintained. CCF Handbook, Section 3.12, D (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Sanitation and Equipment [SR] Comments: During the time of inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that there was not adequate ground cover to provide protection from injury or harm to children while on the 2 swing areas on the playground. The Provider advised the Licensing Specialist that they would correct immediately. Per CCF Handbook Section 3.12, D Outdoor Equipment D. Permanent or stationary playground equipment must have a fall/use zone that extends a minimum of 6 feet in all directions from the perimeter of the equipment.
