During the renewal inspection on 4-16-26, the interconnected smoke alarms on the first and second floors were observed to be functioning independently of each other and not operating as an interconnected system as required. The smoke alarm in the basement, when tested by the operator, was observed to not be functioning. Requirement: Conditions at the facility may not pose a threat to the health or safety of the children. Staff person #1 must complete PA Required Health and Safety for Family Child Care Parts 1 and 2. Correction: I completed part 1 of PA Required Health and Safety for Family Child Care on the night of my inspection, per certification representative, and sent it to certification representative the following morning in order to operate the next day. The file for staff person #1 lacked a current state police clearance updated within the last 60 months. The file for staff person #1 had child abuse clearances, FBI clearances, and NSOR verification certificates that exceeded 60 months between clearances/certificates. Requirement: The operator shall comply with the CPSL and with Chapter 3490 (relating to protective services). A facility person's record shall include a copy of requests for the criminal history record and child abuse registry clearance information, a copy of the disclosure statement and a copy of the completed clearance information required under the CPSL. Staff Person #1 may not work in a child care position at the facility. Correction: The State Police Clearance was done and cleared, however, I didn't realize that the copy I printed of the clearance and put in my file was not the correct copy. I printed the correct copy of the clearance the following morning and sent it to certification representative in order to operate the next day. Inspection: Renewal. In the kitchen in an unlocked cabinet under the sink, there were multiple toxics including Windex that were labeled "Keep out of reach of children" and were accessible to children. Toxics shall be kept in a locked area or in an area inaccessible to children, and shall be stored away from food, food preparation areas and child care spaces. Heat Source (3290.69)

In the kitchen that is used for children to eat meals, there was a stove observed with knobs that were accessible to children. Requirement: Hot water pipes and other sources of heat exceeding 110° F that are accessible to children shall be equipped with protective guards or shall be insulated to prevent direct contact. Correction: While certification representative was here, I went ahead and put the new stove knob covers on. They had just been delivered that morning as 2 had broken so I bought a new set. Infant sleep position (3290.118)

According to staff, an infant has slept in a swing on multiple occasions and was not placed in the sleeping position recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Requirement: Infants shall be placed in the sleeping position recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics unless there is a medical reason an infant should not sleep in this position. The medical reason shall be documented in a statement signed by a physician, physician's assistant or CRNP and placed in the child's record at the facility. Correction: I understand the dangers of infants sleeping in an upright position and I will make sure they are taken out of seats to sleep on their back. Inspection: Renewal. According to the fire drill log, the hypothetical location of the fire was the same for consecutive fire drills. Requirement: The operator or designated staff person who is responsible for compliance with this chapter shall conduct fire drills and ensure that the hypothetical locations of the fire are rotated around the facility for each drill such that the hypothetical location is never the same for consecutive drills. Correction: I thought we were only supposed to have fire drills from places that the children are at in the facility which is why I only have 3 locations listed. From now on, we will have fire drills from other hypothetical locations in the home even though they are not normally in those areas. Inspection: Renewal.
