HAR §17-891.2-11 — Transportation arrangements

Per telephone discussion on 11/26/25, you do not conduct any excursions that require transportation. Please submit a revised Parent Handbook which states that you do not provide transportation. Correction: 12-23-25: Child Care Licensing (CCL) Worker R. Miller received a copy of a revised Parent Handbook which states on page 5 under "Transportation" that it is the responsibility of the parents/guardians for transportation to or from FCC, and no trips taken that would require transportation. Also, page 1 states that "walking excursions" may be taken. 1-6-26: The Worker received a statement via email from the Provider XXXXX dated 1-6-26 that she does not take the children on any errands, excursions or any other activities that require vehicle transportation during the child care day. A copy of the email has been placed on file.

Please submit Safe Sleep Training certificates for your daughter, XXXXX in order to update her training certification which expired on 4-5-24. NOTE: Per telephone call with PATCH on 10-4-24: They stated that the last safe sleep training that they received from your daughter, XXXXX was was a duplicate of the training that was already submitted on 4-6-23. Correction: XXXXX has now updated her Safe Sleep Training Requirements and her training is current.

HAR §17-891.1-6 — Updated Written Policies

Your policy handbook shall be revised to meet the new requirements of Hawaii Administrative Rules 17-891.2. Please provide a copy of your policy handbook and any required forms, once the revisions are completed. Note: We received a copy of an amended written policy. However, after a review, as stated in the email sent to you on 10-7-24, the following items need to be added or modified: --Regular Communication: Please modify the policy under "COMMUNICATION" addressing the regular communication between you and parents/guardians. The policy should list a plan and methods used for regular communication between yourself and the parents/guardians. Examples of communication include telephone, paper incident reports, emails, text message or messages via an app. According to your policy, there is no method where the parents can reach you other than in person. --Administration of Medication: Submit a blank registration form for families to fill out if needed. A sample form was sent to you in a previous mailing. You may use the form as a template if you like. --Mandated Reporting: Include a mandated reporting section in your written policies. It should include that you are required by HRS 350 to report suspected child abuse or neglect to Child Welfare Services (CWS) or to the police department. We included a copy of a statement in previous mailing which will help you write the section in your policies. --Emergency Preparedness Plan: Please modify your policies (under "Emergency Plans") to comply with the new rules regarding Disaster Plan for Emergencies. We included a copy of a sample "Emergency Preparedness Plan" by Learning to Grow (LTG) that satisfies the new rules, in a previous mailing. You may use it as a "template" for your amended plan. Correction: 1-13-25: The Child Care Licensing Worker received a copy of an amended Parent Handbook (written policy) via US Postal mail from the Family Child Care Provider XXXXX. The new handbook satisfies the requirements of the amended Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) 17-891.2. A copy has been placed on file.
