Harmful items including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials were accessible to children in care. CCF Handbook, Section 3.2, B Physical Environment [SR] Comments: Licensing specialist observed , on top of the sink in the 3 year old classroom a bottle of sanitizer labeled keep out of reach of children (Pictures were taken). Technical Assistance (TA) was given to the director and staff member in the classroom. Items were removed and placed out of the reach children during the inspection visit placing this standard back in compliance. CCF Handbook, Section 3.2, B (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Physical Environment [SR] Comments: All potentially harmful items, including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials, must be labeled and used according to manufacturers recommendation. These items, as well as knives, sharp tools, and other potentially dangerous hazards, must be stored in a locked area or must be inaccessible and out of a child's reach at all times. Licensing specialist observed hand sanitizer and hydrogen peroxide (labeled keep out of reach of children), on a shelve within the reach of children (Picture was taken). Technical Assistance (TA) was given to the director explaining that this items must be inaccessible and out of a child's reach at all times . CCF Handbook, Section 3.10.2, G (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Sanitation and Equipment [SR] Comments: Items unrelated to diaper changing shall not be stored in the diaper changing area nor shall they be placed on the diaper changing table. Pictures were taken. Licensing Specialist (LS) provided TA to the director regarding items that are allowed on the diaper changing table. The floor mats available for children in care were not covered with an impermeable surface. CCF Handbook, Section 3.6.1, D Physical Environment [SR] Comments: Each child in care must be provided safe and sanitary bedding to be used when napping or sleeping. Nap bedding is not required for school-age children; however, the program must provide an area for children that choose to rest. Floor mats must be at least one inch thick, and covered with an impermeable surface that is cleaned and sanitized or disinfected after each use. Mats must not be torn or broken. Licensing Specialist (LS) observed mats that were broken in several classrooms Technical Assistance was given by Licensing Specialist (LS) to the staff responsible.
