The USDA MyPlate is to be used to determine which food groups to serve at each meal or snack serving size and age appropriateness of the selected foods for children. Meals and/or snacks supplied by the facility did not meet the daily nutritional needs of the children in care in that [Children not being served food in accordance with USDA MyPlate guidelines]. Comments: Complaint alleges that the provider participates in Child Care Food Program, in which the parent had signed a contract that the children would be provided healthy and nutritious meals. The parent stated that the Provider has a Caterer for the meals, and it has been now brought to the parents attention that they do not serve the children vegetables. The provider stated to the parent that she can supply the child with vegetables if she wants the child to have vegetables, but parent was upset as that was not stated in the contract upon enrollment. FINDINGS: A complaint inspection was conducted on 4/21/2026 and an inspection of the meal prep area was visited and food being served was observed to determine compliance with MyPlate guidelines. I arrived when lunch was being prepared and todays menu included Pasta, tomato sauce and meatballs. The actual items being served were pasta and meat sauce, no meatballs were served. Two (fruit and dairy) of the five food groups were not served. A conversation with the staff member serving the food revealed that the children are served two items daily and only served three items on Mondays when rice, beans and a protein is served. Per the front desk person, the fruits and yogurts observed in the fridge are served during snack times, sometimes in the morning and the afternoon. A conversation with the owner revealed that the children are not served milk or an alternative. They are only served water during lunch and snack times. This complaint is substantiated as the facility is not providing all food items as indicated on the USDA MyPlate dieting guidelines.
