    03. Ratio Sufficient CCF Handbook, Section 2.3 CCF Handbook, Section 2.3 (Form DEL-SR-6200A) (03-01)

A ratio of [2] child care personnel for [7] children is required. A ratio of [1] child care personnel for [7] children was observed. s.402.305(4), F.S. (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) General Requirements [SR] Comments: During the routine inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed one (1) staff member supervising a mixed-age group consisting of two (2) infants, two (2) two-year-old children, two (2) three-year-old children, and one (1) four-year-old child, for a total of seven (7) children. The Licensing Specialist provided TA as follows: Pursuant Section 402.305(4), Florida Statutes, and Child Care Facility Handbook, Section 2.3.1(A). Mixed Age Groups, when children under one year of age are included in a mixed-age group, one childcare personnel may be responsible for no more than four (4) children of any age group at all times. The facility was out of compliance with the required staff-to-child ratio, as one staff member was assigned responsibility for seven (7) children, including two (2) infants, exceeding the maximum allowable ratio of 1:4. Upon notification by the Licensing Specialist, the provider immediately contacted an additional staff member to return to the facility. The Licensing Specialist remained onsite for approximately 15 to 20 minutes until the additional staff member arrived, at which time the required staff-to-child ratio was restored and the facility returned to compliance. The standard was put back into compliance once staff member came to the daycare. Ratio was as follows which brought the ratio back into compliance. 1:2 infants & 1:5 (Mixed group #2 two-year-olds, #2 three-year-olds & #1 four-year-old.)
