The operator did not have documentation of an annual vehicle inspection for a vehicle used to transport children in care. FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, Section 2.4.4, A Large Family [SR] Comments: At the time of the investigation the operator did not have annual vehicle inspection to present to the LS. 2.4.4 Vehicle Requirements For the purpose of this section, vehicles refer to those owned, operated or regularly used by the child care home, and vehicles that provide transportation through a contract or agreement with an outside entity. Parents/guardians personal vehicles used for transporting during field trips are excluded from meeting the requirements of this sub-section. A. Documentation by the mechanic must be maintained in the vehicle. The operator has been informed of the requirements for transporting children in care but has chosen not to include transportation services among those offered. If the operator decides to transport enrolled children in the future (whether using an operator-owned or contracted vehicle) they must first notify the Department and obtain the appropriate approval and possess the required documentations: such as Drivers physical (medical approval to operate a vehicle), vehicle inspection (mechanics approval the vehicle is safe to operate), CPR and First, etc. A complete list of transportation requirements can be found in the Family Day Care Home and Large Family Day Care Home Handbook. 04.
