CCF Handbook, Section 2.4 (Section 2.1 - Health and Safety, Page 3) General Requirements [SR] Comments: Licensing Specialist observed that the mixed age group classroom with children ranging from ages 1-years-old to 10 years of age and 1 staff member totaling a ratio of 17:1, did not have direct supervision of all children in the classroom, whereas (2) children were running around in the kitchen area and not being supervised and a10-year-old and 2 smaller children were in the classroom across the hallway from the mixed age classroom where the staff member was where going in and out of the classroom. The Owner/Director was not at the center during the reinspection. Technical assistance provided. Per Provider the sink is stopped up right now but will be getting repaired. In the meantime, the children will wash their hands in the sink in the dining room area. 3 Physical Environment Children are much more susceptible to the adverse effects of environmental factors, materials and toxicants. It is imperative that the childcare environment is conducive to the healthy development of children. 3.1 General Health and Safety Requirements A. Technical assistance was provided and staff positioned herself where she could observe and hear the (2) children that were napping in the other room. 2.4 Supervision 2.4.2 Nap time Supervision During nap time, childcare personnel must be within sight and hearing of all the children. All other childcare personnel required to meet the staff-to-child ratio must be within the building on the same floor and available to be summoned if needed to ensure the safety of the children. Nap time supervision does not apply to children up to 24 months of age, who must have direct supervision at all times. Not Applicable Comments Per Provider does not provide transportation. Although Transportation is not provided at this childcare facility, technical assistance was given as follows; Technical Assistance Statement Regarding Transportation and Vehicle Requirements for Child Care Facilities Prior to transporting children, the facility must be approved by the Department to offer transportation services. Transportation services will be approved if the conditions set forth in parts 2.5.1, 2.5.4., 2.5.5., and 4.2.6., of the Child Care Facility Handbook are met.
