11. Child Discipline CCF Handbook, Section 2.8 (11-03)
Child care personnel did not comply with the facility's written disciplinary and expulsion policies. CCF Handbook, Section 2.8, B General Requirements [SR] Comments: The staff agreed she used physical discipline on a child. Staff was terminated immediately. The program owner self-reported the incident. Program strides to prevent this type of incidents from happening, a discipline policy is included in the employee handbook. Moreover, a poster stating steps to redirect child's behavior is posted on a bulletin board. The discipline policy is also posted by the entrance of the facility. Per the Child Care Facility Handbook Section 2.8 Child Discipline: A. The childcare facility shall adopt a discipline policy consistent with Section402.305(12), F.S., including standards that prohibit children from being subjected to discipline, which is severe, humiliating, frightening, or associated with food, rest, or toileting.
