There was evidence or the presence of rodent or vermin observed in the facility. CCF Handbook, Section 3.1, A (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Physical Environment [SR] Comments: Counselor observed dead roaches inside two cabinets in the kitchen. The cabinets are located at the bottom, one right to the dish washing sink and right to the stove. Provider presented proof of pest control and cleaned the surfaces to remove dead roaches. This violation was corrected at the time of inspection. Compliance Comments Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance regarding storing of cleaning supplies. Poisonous/toxic chemicals or cleaning products must be stored separately from food. The facilitys outdoor play area contained litter, nails, glass or other hazards that posed a low potential for harm to children. CCF Handbook, Section 3.5, A (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Physical Environment [SR] Comments: Licensing specialist observed a blue water table outside the playground in need of cleaning. The water inside the water table was not fresh as it had collected sediment at the bottom of the container and live larvae. Provider emptied the water table and sanitized it. This violation was corrected at the time of inspection. A medication, [inhaler], brought to the center for administration, was not in its original container. CCF Handbook, Section 6.5, C (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Health Requirements [SR] Comments: One inhaler medication was not in the original container. Provider will obtain the original container for the medication by due date or return medication to parent. Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance for as needed medication. From the Child Care Facility Handbook 6.5 Medication: Prescription and non-prescription medications that are used on an as needed basis require the parent/ legal guardian to provide additional documentation on the authorization form to describe symptoms that would require the medication to be given. Medication that has expired or that is no longer being dispensed must be returned to the custodial parent or legal guardian or discarded. Prior to administering medication to children, child care personnel responsible for administering medication must be educated on proper administration procedures. Written documentation must be maintained in the personnel file that child care personnel administering medication have been educated on proper administration procedures. Prescription and non-prescription medication brought to the child care facility by the custodial parent or legal guardian must be in the original container. Prescription medication must have a label stating the name and contact information of the physician and/or pharmacy, childs name, name of the medication, and medication directions. All prescription and non-prescription medication must be dispensed according to written directions on the prescription label or printed manufacturers label and maintained at the appropriate temperature.
