    1240-04-01-.11 Supervision

A child ran out of the classroom, causing a lapse in supervision. — Visit: Incident or Injury Investigation,Technical Assistance — Action taken: The educator followed the child outside to get him. He was then brought back to the classroom and discussed the dangers of leaving the classroom. Then the educators positioned themselves by the doors to prevent it from happening again. Educators will now be positioned on opposite sides of the room, close to the room's exits, to ensure children are not able to open the doors. Parents were also told to start using the other door for entrance/exit since it is fenced in. This will add an additional safety measure with the fence. A training referral has been sent to the Child Care Resource and Referral for the educators to receive training/coaching on strategies to prevent elopement.
