The stove reached a temperature of 182° F at that time. There was no protective guard on the stove and the kitchen was not equipped with a gate to prevent access. The door was open all the way with the door stopper holding the door in place. Requirement: Hot water pipes and other sources of heat exceeding 110° F that are accessible to children shall be equipped with protective guards or shall be insulated to prevent direct contact. Correction: A child gate was immediately placed in the doorway to the kitchen. Staff were instructed on the proper use of the gate. Inspection: Renewal. A facility person may not restrain a child by using bonds, ties or straps to restrict a child's movement or by enclosing the child in a confined space, closet or locked room.
