During complaint investigation, it was discovered that staff #1 had inappropriately handled a child by forcefully grabbing and lifting a child by the wrist. This can be seen from the facilities video footage. The facility reported the incident immediately upon being informed and terminated staff #1. Requirement: A facility person may not use any form of physical punishment, including spanking a child. TIERED LIS: 1. A facility person may not use any form of physical punishment, including spanking a child. This portion shall have an immediate correction date. 2. The legal entity will need to create a written policy on how they will handle staff who are becoming frustrated while working alongside children. The policy must also state that if other staff are witnessing frustration, an intervention must be put in place to prevent aggressive behaviors towards children. The legal entity will need to have all staff review the new policy, sign a document stating that it has been reviewed and it shall be kept in each staff file. This policy must be approved by DHS before implementation. The operator shall provide a date for when this policy will be completed and reviewed by all staff. Correction: A facility person may not use any form of physical punishment, including spanking a child (6/17/26). NCCS will create a written policy to address employee classroom frustration. The policy will give detailed instruction on how to communicate and to request to be removed from the classroom when frustrated. A code word will be established.
