    Ratios

    Licensing and Child Welfare observed school age bus to arrive at the center at 3:00pm and the school age children went outside to combine with the 3 year old and older classroom. Licensing counted the children outside and observed 1 staff outside with 20 children and 4 three year olds (3 yr old mixed ratio 15 children to 1 staff). Staff outside said the other teacher was here but did not know where she went. Licensing found the other teacher inside changing a child who had an accident. Visit: Complaint / Full. Plan to correct: Personnel in charge addressed the staff and told them if they need to change a diaper or change a child when playing outside they will bring their entire classroom back inside. She will remind staff to count their children to ensure ratios are maintained. The non-compliance was corrected during the visit. In the future, ratios will be maintained as required. Licensing observed the child being upset and crying and not being consoled. Visit: Complaint / Full. Plan to correct: Personnel in charge addressed the phone usage with 1 year old teaching staff. Personnel in charge told staff not to be on her cell except in case of an emergency. This was corrected at the time of the non-compliance.
