   7.07(13)(d), 7.07(01), 7.07(02), 7.07(10) — Physical Facility - Indoors

   During the visit there were several items that were not secure and tippable that could be a potential hazard to children in classrooms: Purple bookshelf in room was not secure preschool 1. In Preschool 2 there following items were tippable: black, brown and puzzle shelf. White cubbies. Kitchen area items. An outlet in preschool 2 was not covered with an outlet cover. The diaper pad has tears in the toddler 2 classroom. Corrective action: Director will ensure that all of of these items are secured now that I am back from vacation. Furthermore, director has replaced the ripped diaper changing pad in the Toddler 2 classroom with a new one, and all outlets have been covered appropriately.. Regulation: All play equipment, fences and structures must be free of entrapment hazards., The licensee must ensure that the physical facilities are safe, clean, in good repair and free from hazards and clutter. The licensee must monitor the environment daily to identify and remove or repair any hazards that may cause injury to children. Exits and evacuation routes must be kept clear of obstructions., Building Inspection. Every program that is not located in a residence and every program that has a licensed capacity of more than 10 children must provide a certificate of inspection from the Department of Public Safety or the local building inspector certifying that the facility complies with the State Building Code (780 CMR). The certificate must indicate the following:, Indoor Space. The indoor space must be clean, safely maintained, well-ventilated and well-lit, of sufficient size for the children served, and must encourage play and learning. Cited during: Monitoring Visit.    7.07(07)(d), 7.07(07)(e), 7.07(10), 7.07(13)(d) — Physical Facility - Outdoors

   During the inspections of the outdoor play spaces there was not sufficient mulch on the play ground next to the infant playground, there were 7 inches of mulch, which does not meet the required 9 inches of depth of impact absorbing material. There was a white wooden table with weathered wood that could be a potential hazard to children. There was not sufficient mulch where the rock climber was on one side there was 5 inches and on another side there was 6 inches of mulch only one side had 9 inches of mulch. Corrective action: Director has reached out to owner and requested a large mulch delivery to ensure that there's 9 inches on each of the playgrounds, in the meantime we have moved existing mulch to the areas around the climbers. The weathered white wooden table has been removed from the playground.. Regulation: The outdoor play area must be free from hazards including but not limited to: a busy street, a parking lot, poisonous plants, water hazards, debris, broken glass, chipping, peeling or flaking paint, dangerous machinery or tools, and weather-related and environmental hazards or small objects that could present a choking hazard to young children. Any such hazard must be removed or fenced by a sturdy, permanently installed barrier which is at least four feet high or otherwise protected or removed, as appropriate., If the outdoor play space is located on a roof, it must be protected by a barrier at least seven feet high, which cannot be climbed by children., Indoor Space. The indoor space must be clean, safely maintained, well-ventilated and well-lit, of sufficient size for the children served, and must encourage play and learning., All play equipment, fences and structures must be free of entrapment hazards.
