7.11(03) — Health

The IHCP for a child with allergy did not include the names of educators who would administer the plan. Corrective action: Three educators who have first aid/cpr training in medication administration have been added to the child's IHCP plan.. Regulation: Individual Health Care Plans The licensee must maintain as part of a child’s record, an individual health care plan for each child with a chronic medical condition, which has been diagnosed by a licensed health care practitioner. The plan must describe the chronic condition, its symptoms, any medical treatment that may be necessary while the child is in care, the potential side effects of that treatment, and the potential consequences to the child’s health if the treatment is not administered. 7.07(07)(d), 7.07(07)(e), 7.07(10), 7.07(13)(d) — Physical Facility - Outdoors

On the day of the visit there was a tree with berries that were within reach of children. The mulch under and around fall zones appeared compress. The assessment of the much showed the depth was insufficient. Corrective action: Tree with berries removed. Contacted landscaping for the third time. They stated they would deliver new mulch and fluff up the old Friday 7/17/2026. Regulation: The outdoor play area must be free from hazards including but not limited to: a busy street, a parking lot, poisonous plants, water hazards, debris, broken glass, chipping, peeling or flaking paint, dangerous machinery or tools, and weather-related and environmental hazards or small objects that could present a choking hazard to young children. Any such hazard must be removed or fenced by a sturdy, permanently installed barrier which is at least four feet high or otherwise protected or removed, as appropriate., If the outdoor play space is located on a roof, it must be protected by a barrier at least seven feet high, which cannot be climbed by children., Indoor Space. Rocking chairs in the infant room appeared to have head entrapment risk area that could pose a danger for infants. Corrective action: Rocking chairs have been taken out. Will replace once we find one through a commercial children's supply company.. Regulation: All play equipment, fences and structures must be free of entrapment hazards., The licensee must ensure that the physical facilities are safe, clean, in good repair and free from hazards and clutter. The licensee must monitor the environment daily to identify and remove or repair any hazards that may cause injury to children. Exits and evacuation routes must be kept clear of obstructions., Building Inspection. Every program that is not located in a residence and every program that has a licensed capacity of more than 10 children must provide a certificate of inspection from the Department of Public Safety or the local building inspector certifying that the facility complies with the State Building Code (780 CMR). The lighting in Room 6-A was not adequate to ensure the safety of children while napping. Corrective action: Two night lights were purchased to allow adequate lighting during nap.. The attendance record in the infant rooms was missing one child who was in attendance. Corrective action: Classroom staff was reminded to immediately sign each child in upon arrival.. The posted Emergency numbers did not include name, address, and phone number of Health Care Consultant. Corrective action: Went around to each classroom and found that every classroom had a correct posting of the Health Care Consultant.. 7.07(07), 7.07(10) — Physical Space (Indoor & Outdoor)

Observation and inspection of the playgrounds revealed the following: 1) The fence in the Toddler Playground had an area where the fence was curled up and could pose a danger for children. 2) There was a cement footing that was exposed, in the toddler playground, at the gate leading in and out of the playground. 3) The dirt along the edge of the cement landing, at the bottom of the stairs in the toddler playground. Is issue created a step that was too high for toddler children to manage. Corrective action: Fencing company has been contacted. Waiting for installation of wire on bottom of fencing. Dirt contained in a panty hose has been wrapped around cement footing. In spring will add a new one with grass. Bags of top soil (7) have been added to landing, at the bottom of the stairs to create a step. Indoor outdoor grass rug is over top soil to add stability when children walk on it.. Regulation: Outdoor Space. The licensee must maintain, or have access to, an outdoor play area of at least 75 square feet per child who is outside at any one time., Indoor Space.
