   HAR §17-891.2-12 — Obtain and maintain liability insurance coverage as defined in section 346-157, HRS

   Please submit a copy of a current (not expired) copy of a Certificate of Liability Insurance (COI) for your facility. This requirement has been deficient since, at the least, November 2025, which is over 6 months ago. Per §346-157 Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS)(b)(c)(d)(2)Liability Insurance coverage, requirement. The department shall require all providers to obtain and maintain liability insurance coverage as a condition of licensure, temporary permission, or registration to operate a child care facility . All providers are required to disclose in writing to each parent or guardian, within seven working days of any change, cancellation, or termination of liability insurance coverage , that the coverage has been changed, canceled, or terminated while the parent's or guardian's child is care for a the provider's facility. The department may suspend or revoke a license, temporary permit, or certificate of registration of a provider in accordance with section 346-161 or 346-175 if: (2) the provider does not comply with the insurance coverage and disclosure requirements of this section and rules adopted by the department pursuant to this section.

   HAR §17-891.2-35 — Caregivers complete 16 hours of training in at least two of the department-approved topic areas within twelve months of the initial training and annually thereafter

   Please Update the Health & Safety Training with Parents Attentive to Children (PATCH) for you and your household members whose training periods are expired over 250 days: XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX For all of you, there is only one hour of the required annual 16 hours of training recorded. NOTE: We are reminding you that all household members and caregiving staff need at least 16 hours of department approved training on an ANNUAL basis in at least two of the required topic areas. If this is not completed we can suspend your certificate of registration and you will not be able to care for more than two children unrelated to you until the Health and Safety trainings are completed.
