   It states in the Staff Handbook, pgs. 59-60: Evacuation drills are practiced each month. Evacuation route is posted by each exit door in the classrooms. (Family Handbook, pg. 44) Staff bring a sign-in sheet, emergency cards, and first aid kits. A staff member will check the rooms to make sure all children and staff have exited the building. Infants can be pushed in an evacuation crib down the ramp. Please include in the site's disaster plan where the evacuation site is for emergencies that require evacuation. To satisfy this requirement, the Worker must receive either the current unexpired Department of Health Food Establishment Permit Inspection Report or both the Food Establishment Permit inspection report showing no violations AND the current Green Placard. Please inquire with the Department of Health Food Safety Branch regarding the inspection. Correction: The Worker received the facility's Department of Health (DOH) Food Establishment Inspection Report showing no violations, dated September 12, 2025. The Worker also received a copy of the DOH Green Placard with the same date.

    §17-895.1-71 (e) states that the facility shall make the written procedures for disaster and emergencies available for review by or provide a copy of the plan to each family whose child is enrolled at the child care facility. The disaster plan procedures in the Family Handbook does not sufficiently provide procedures for the disasters including fire, flood, tsunami, hurricane/tropical storm, and earthquake, nor the additional written procedures such as evacuation, lock-down/sheltering in place, and accommodations. Please provide the Worker an amended Family Handbook or provide a separate document, which is given to enrolled families, with the comprehensive procedures. The written procedures for families must include the natural disasters stated above (fire, flood, tsunami, hurricane/tropical storm, earthquake). The plan must also include evacuation (evacuation site), sheltering in place, lock-down, accommodation of toddlers during an emergency, and providing for the needs of children with special needs, disabilities, and chronic medical conditions during an emergency. We recommend including the details from the Staff Handbook's disaster plan in the Family Handbook. Please see the example Sample Emergency Preparedness Plan.
