HAR §17-892.2-35 — Caregivers shall complete at least 16 hours of ongoing training in at least 2 of the department approved topic areas
All staff shall have 16 hours of annual health and safety trainings; substitutes shall have 10 hours of training. Staff who do not meet this requirement may be excluded in the staff-child ratio, which may affect your license to operate the group child care program. Note: ALL staff is required to meet this requirement annually . The department advises each provider to plan accordingly for timely staff development trainings as well as time that these trainings can be recorded timely. We are reminding you that all caregiving staff need at least sixteen (16) hours of department approved training on an ANNUAL basis in at least two topic areas and substitutes need at least 10 hours of training. If they do not complete this requirement we may have to exclude these staff members and they will not be able to count towards the staff-child ratio until they do, which may affect your license to operate a Group Child Care Center (GCC) . If training has been completed, please immediately provide the certificates to PATCH. If the staff has more training to do, please communicate a plan on how they shall meet the training requirement timely.
