47. Access/Child Safety CCF Handbook, Section 8 (47-05)

The owner, operator, employee or substitute failed to grant the licensing authority access to the child care facility, or any portion thereof, during the hours of operation. s. 402.311, F.S. Enforcement [SR] Comments: The Licensing Specialist arrived at the facility and was informed that the Owner/Director was not present. Teacher 1 opened the door and advised the Licensing Specialist that she will notify the staff that was in charge of my presence and closed the door. Teacher 2 came outside for her break; Licensing Specialist informed her about the reason for the visit and she replied, "staff in charge is coming" and closed the door. The staff in charge was not at the facility when the Licensing Specialist arrived, therefore Licensing Specialist waited outside the center for approximately over 25 minutes. This violation was resolved/brought back into compliance when staff in charge arrived and allowed the Licensing Specialist access to the facility. The Licensing Specialist advised the staff in charge to remind all childcare personnel to allow the licensing authority access to the facility during the hours of operation. There was evidence or the presence of rodent or vermin observed in the facility. CCF Handbook, Section 3.1, A Physical Environment [SR] Comments: During the morning of 3/24/25, the Licensing Specialist received an email from the Owner/Director notifying that on Wednesday 3/19/25 they found holes in the closet and rat droppings in the VPK classroom. The Owner/Director stated that the VPK classroom was closed. The facility was cleaned and sanitized. Pest control completed an inspection over the weekend and the Director advised that their pest control contract was upgraded to included rodents on the checklist. This violation was resolved/brought back into compliance by the Licensing Specialist monitoring the VPK classroom. The Licensing Specialist observed that the holes in the closet were repaired/patched, and a copy of the upgraded pest control contract was provided.
