Supervision of children in the [two year old class] group was inadequate in that [a child was left unattended on the two year old playground]. CCF Handbook, Section 2.4 (Section 2.1 - Health and Safety, Page 3) General Requirements [SR] Comments: Facility reported that a two year old child was left unattended on the playground for approximately 30 minutes. The Child Care Facility Handbook states: 2.4.B--Children must never be left without childcare personnel supervision inside or outside the facility. In a vehicle, or at a field trip location by themselves. The facility terminated the teacher responsible for the incident. The specialist suggested that an additional chime could be added to this facility's cameras that are located in the front office. The chiming will detect when a child has been left outside by alerting the front office. This new system has been added to the facility and specialist was given a demonstration. 05. Child care personnel including volunteers who work 10 hours or more per month did not complete the 40 hour Introductory Child Care Training requirement. CCF Handbook Section 4.2.1 (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Comments: Specialist observed that a teacher had been in and out of the industry since 2021 without completing the mandated training that is required within the first year, even with a break in service. Training completion may not exceed 15 months from the date of employment in the childcare industry in any licensed Florida Childcare facility.
