Outdoor Play Space - Energy-Absorbing Surfaces (251.06(11)(b)5.)

It was observed that there was only ~5 inches of energy-absorbing surfacing underneath climbing equipment that is more than 4 feet in height. It was reported by the program that children have been using this equipment. Rule requires an energy-absorbing surface with a depth of at least 9 inches under climbing equipment that is 4 feet or more in height, and in a fall zone of 4 feet beyond the equipment. It was observed during the visit that children in the Oak Room were not provided a rest period, nor provided with a sleeping surface in accordance with DCF 251.07(4)(cm). Rule states that all children under the age of 5 years old who are in care for more than 4 hours shall have a nap or rest period. Infant & Toddler - Soft Materials In Cribs (251.09(1)(L))

It was observed during the visit that a sleep surface intended for use by a child under the age of 1-year-old had multiple soft items hanging on the side of the crib and placed inside the crib.
