    Regulation 6.2.6.1: Staff shall be able to hear all children of pre-kindergarten age and younger at all times, shall be able to see the children with a quick glance, and shall be able to physically respond immediately.

    Factual basis: A preschool child was observed standing outside of the classroom, in the hallway, in between the cubby area and the stairwell. The classroom door was closed, and classroom staff inside the classroom were engaged with other children. The Director, who came upon the child accompanied by this Licensor, let the child back into the classroom. When this incident was discussed with the classroom Teacher, they acknowledged that it is their practice to allow the children to go out to their cubbies unsupervised. Corrective action: Immediately stop the current practice of allowing children to leave the classroom unattended. Develop and implement a system that allows for children to obtain items from their cubbies in the hallway while maintaining compliance with this regulation. Child A also had an over the counter medication that expired a couple weeks prior to the visit.
