1240-04-01-.11 Supervision
During an announced QRIS visit LC observed a 1 year old female child with a blanket over their head during mealtime. LC spoke to educators about the blanket and it was removed from child's head. — Visit: QRIS Monitoring visit — Action taken: Executive Director has talked to both teachers in the room that at meal time it is very important to be able to see each child's face while they are eating and the blanket should have been removed immediately and put in the child's lap while explaining to them about keeping it off thier head and in their lap. Both educators have been told if the child does need the blanket since it is her comfort blanket she has to have it in her lap during meal times. I also asked them to talk to the parents and see if possibly she has a small stuffy toy that she could carry around insted for safety reasons. Also is she does need the blanket and will not keep it in her lap at meal times she will not be able to have it with her due to safety issues. Also, I have addressed this issue with all educators so they can also be aware of safety issues during our meal times. I have emailed CCR&R to have them come out and do a refresh training with my educators in the toddler room.

During an announced QRIS visit, LC observed the ratio in a classroom was at 50% during naptime. LC observed educator putting out mats. All children were not all on their mats they were sitting in their nap spots. There was only 1 educator present in classroom. There were 20 - 4y-5y olds in the classroom. — Visit: QRIS Monitoring visit — Action taken: The educator that left the room out of ratio was written up and given training on why it is important to have two teachers in the room to maintain our ratios and supervison rules along with making sure children are kept safe. TA was also given to all teachers in the center the importance of maintaining ratios and why we do them to keep children safe. The PreK teachers have been instructed that they may not leave for breaks until all children are down on their mats and settled. We have also put a floater in that room from 10:30 to 12:30 to help with the tranisitons during this time from lunch to rest time. TA has been given to all teachers on the importance of ratios and supervison so that all of us can keep children in our care safe at all times. The Director will be doing room checks also during transiton from lunch to nap to make sure that ratio and supervision is being followed at all times.
