At approximately 9:45 AM Certification Staff observed Staff #1 and Staff #2 caring for a group of 14 mixed-age children which included 2 young toddlers, 4 older toddlers, and 8 preschoolers in Room 105. When asked to name the children in their assigned groups, Staff #1 named 3 older toddlers and 3 preschoolers, and Staff #2 named 2 young toddlers and 3 preschoolers. An older toddler and 2 preschoolers were not named by Staff #1 or Staff #2 as part of their assigned groups. When Certification Staff questioned who was assigned the older toddler and 2 preschoolers not named by Staff #1 or Staff #2, Certification Staff was told those children were assigned to Staff #3 who entered the classroom while Certification Staff was assessing supervision and ratio. Requirement: Each staff person shall be assigned the responsibility for supervision of specific children. The staff person shall know the names and whereabouts of the children in his assigned group. The staff person shall be physically present with the children in his group on the facility premises and on facility excursions off the facility premises.
