During the annual unannounced annual renewal on 9/26/25, the inspector observed that the family home had a new interconnected system made by the brand X-Sense. This brand is not an approved testing laboratory recognized by OSHA. Requirement: Fire detection devices or systems must be in compliance with standards established under section 1016(c) of the act (62 P.S. § 1016(c)). The operator or designated staff person who is responsible for compliance with this chapter shall ensure the requirements in subsection (a) are met. Correction: Facility has current Kidde interconnected that had been installed 9/25/21 that began to blink, far before the ten-year warranty. Operator purchased both Kidde smoke alarms and X -Sense smoke detectors to ensure compliance with the regulations. Operator was unaware that X-Sense failed to meet OSHA standards. Operator immediately had household member purchase First Alert UL rated interconnected smoke detectors and place in home and test them while inspector present. Inspection: Renewal. Requirement: Fire detection devices or systems must be in compliance with standards established under section 1016(c) of the act (62 P.S. § 1016(c)). The operator or designated staff person who is responsible for compliance with this chapter shall ensure the requirements in subsection (a) are met. Correction: The operator was unaware that manual smoke detectors were calendar days and not business days as facility operates Monday through Friday only. Inspection: Renewal.
