7.10(05)(d), 7.10(05)(f) — Care of Children

During the observation of two different groupings, educators were observed walking out of the room for several minutes leaving the classroom out of ratio with the other educator. Corrective action: We are continuously educating staff on ratio and keeping within ratio.. Regulation: Educators must be positioned to maximize their ability to see and/or hear children in their care., Educators must not engage in any other activities or tasks that could unnecessarily divert their attention from supervising the children. 7.07(06) — Physical Facility - Outdoors

During an observation in the Blue Room, areas of the plastered walls are crumbling and falling off. Corrective action: We are having the wall scraped and repaired.. 7.04(17)(p)(04) — Emergency Preparedness

During the visit it was noted that there were no emergency evacuation diagrams and procedures posted in the gym or the library/game room. Corrective action: The evacuation plans were posted in the areas of the gym , library and game room.. Regulation: next to each exit, emergency and evacuation procedures. 7.11(03) — Health

During the review of medical information it was noted that, one child's IHCP was expired. Two other children's medications did not have IHCP's. Corrective action: The parents were notified and new IHCP's were requested.. Regulation: Individual Health Care Plans The licensee must maintain as part of a child’s record, an individual health care plan for each child with a chronic medical condition, which has been diagnosed by a licensed health care practitioner. The plan must describe the chronic condition, its symptoms, any medical treatment that may be necessary while the child is in care, the potential side effects of that treatment, and the potential consequences to the child’s health if the treatment is not administered. 7.13(04)(j) — Transportation Safety

During a review of the transportation attendance logs, it was noted that the secondary signature for the vehicle inspection was not conducted. Corrective action: We spoke with drivers and they are to have another driver check the van to ensure no children or items belonging to the children are left behind.. Regulation: the driver of the vehicle takes attendance before and after each trip and conducts a complete vehicle inspection after every trip to ensure that children are not left alone in a vehicle at any time; Cited during: Renewal - Monitoring Visit.
