The program did not have the staff records checklist available at the program and staff records were missing for two educators. The building inspection does not contain use codes. Corrective action: We are working on obtaining a new building inspection with proper use codes. Educators' pocketbooks and backpacks were accessible to children on the day of the visit. Corrective action: Staff have been reminded that their personal items must be stored in our program cabinet at all times.. Regulation: The outdoor play area must be free from hazards including but not limited to: a busy street, a parking lot, poisonous plants, water hazards, debris, broken glass, chipping, peeling or flaking paint, dangerous machinery or tools, and weather-related and environmental hazards or small objects that could present a choking hazard to young children. Any such hazard must be removed or fenced by a sturdy, permanently installed barrier which is at least four feet high or otherwise protected or removed, as appropriate., Educators must ensure that all hazardous objects, including but not limited to matches, lighters, toxic materials, sharp objects, plastic bags and purses are locked or inaccessible to children. The program did not have an [redacted] on site for a child with [redacted]. Corrective action: Child's [redacted] and paperwork were in a separate pocket of the medication backpack. Medication and paperwork are now stored in the main pocket of medication backpack with other documents and medications. Moving forward all staff will be made aware of children's health care plans and medications.. 7.04(01), 7.04(17)(m)(07) — Administration

A qualified administrator (site coordinator) was not on the premises when the Licensor arrived at the program. Corrective action: The [redacted] was spoken to about leaving the site during their shift. In the case of an emergency the site coordinator will contact their Director to inform them that they have a emergency and will not be on site.. Regulation: The licensee must ensure that the program is soundly administered by qualified persons designated with specific administrative and program responsibilities. The program did not have a second adult trained in the program's health care and emergency procedures immediately available in case of emergency on the day of the visit. Corrective action: In the case that there is an emergency and the site coordinator needs to leave they will notify the program director. The program director will come out and cover.. It was reported that the bleach and water solution is emptied every few days, rather than daily as required. Corrective action: All staff will be retrained on how to complete the bleach and water solution. Administration will be going around to do spot checks on this.. Regulation: All disinfectant solutions must be stored in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and in a secure place out of the reach of children., The disinfectant solution used to disinfect child care items, equipment and surfaces must be either a bleach solution prepared by the licensee in accordance with EEC guidelines or a commercially prepared disinfectant that has been registered as a sanitizing solution by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Registration by the EPA will be indicated on the product label.
