7.11(12) — Health and Safety

There was a blanket and pillow on the changing mat. The infants hands were not washed and the educator did not wash her hands. She did not wash and disinfect the changing mat. Corrective action: The blanket and pillow that were on the changing area were removed immediately. New blankets and pillows were ordered through Amazon and will be used appropriately in designated sleeping areas only. Proper diaper-changing procedures have been reviewed and are being followed consistently, including washing the infant's hands, washing the educator's hands, and cleaning and disinfecting the changing surface after each diaper change. A smoke detector was beeping. Corrective action: A replacement smoke detector was ordered immediately following the visit. Photos of the order confirmation have been uploaded. The new detector is expected to arrive tomorrow and will be installed immediately upon receipt. There were cleaning supplies within the reach of the kids in the kitchen and bathroom. The educator moved them during the visit but they should never be within reach. Corrective action: All cleaning supplies were removed from children's reach during the visit and have been placed in a secure location inaccessible to children.
