   During the visit licensor observed two children walk out of the room to the area where the cubbies are located. The children did not have adult supervision while at the cubbies. Corrective action: On the day of the EEC visit, all staff were reminded to always accompany children to the cubby area. The children have been instructed by the classroom staff to wait for a teacher to accompany them if they need to go to their cubby.. Regulation: Educators must be positioned to maximize their ability to see and/or hear children in their care., Educators must not engage in any other activities or tasks that could unnecessarily divert their attention from supervising the children.    7.07(02), 7.07(03) — Physical Facility - Indoors

   The program did not have a current building inspection on the day of the visit. Corrective action: Our Building Inspector did complete the annual inspection of our facility but asked that our fire escape be inspected by an engineer as a condition of completing this year's inspection. This has been done and steps are being taken to address any issues noted. We will be issued our building certificate as soon as required maintenance has been completed. The owner is in consistent communication with the Building Inspector and is working diligently to secure a company that will complete the work required in a timely manner.. Every program that is not located in a residence and every program that has a licensed capacity of more than 10 children must provide a certificate of inspection from the Department of Public Safety or the local building inspector certifying that the facility complies with the State Building Code (780 CMR).    The crib used for evacuation of infants was not constructed for the purpose of use duirng an evacuation. Corrective action: The crib has been removed from the I/T room because it is no longer needed. The child who was using it has turned a year old and is now able to rest on a mat.. Regulation: Programs that use cribs for evacuation must assure that such cribs are safe for the intended purpose, easily movable and small enough to fit through exit doors to the outside.    Licensor observed children's coats stored on top of each other in the salt well. This can create a cross-contamination issue. Corrective action: On the day following the EEC visit, we instructed parents and children to deposit coats/belongings in labeled cubbies upstairs every morning upon arrival.. Regulation: The licensee must ensure that educators and children wash their hands with liquid soap and running water, using friction, in accordance with DPH guidelines.
