7.07(16)(e) — Physical Facility - Outdoors

On the day of the visit, an inspection of the playground revealed that the program did not have an adequate depth of impact absorbing material under and around use zones. Corrective action: Existing impact absorbing material will be added to the zones in which require it to bring it into compliance. If when added it is not adequate the structures will be temporarily closed until more material is ordered and added to the zones.. Regulation: Playground Safety. The use zones under and around swings, slides, and climbing structures must be covered with an adequate depth of an impact absorbing material, in accordance with EEC policy. Inspection of the playground revealed the program did not have an adequate depth of inspect absorbing material along the fall zones of the preschool climbing structures. Corrective action: We immediately restricted access to the affected climbing structures to ensure child safety. I arranged for additional impact-absorbing material to be delivered and installed to meet the required depth standards. when the materials are replenished, we will verify compliance with fall zone safety guidelines. Moving forward, we implemented a regular playground inspection schedule to monitor and maintain proper surfacing levels.. Regulation: The outdoor play area must be free from hazards including but not limited to: a busy street, a parking lot, poisonous plants, water hazards, debris, broken glass, chipping, peeling or flaking paint, dangerous machinery or tools, and weather-related and environmental hazards or small objects that could present a choking hazard to young children. Any such hazard must be removed or fenced by a sturdy, permanently installed barrier which is at least four feet high or otherwise protected or removed, as appropriate., If the outdoor play space is located on a roof, it must be protected by a barrier at least seven feet high, which cannot be climbed by children., Indoor Space. The indoor space must be clean, safely maintained, well-ventilated and well-lit, of sufficient size for the children served, and must encourage play and learning., All play equipment, fences and structures must be free of entrapment hazards. 7.11(02)(c), 7.11(02)(e) — Health

The program did not have parental consent for the administration of medication for one child. Corrective action: Site Director obtained the required written consent using the appropriate medication authorization form. Additionally, we reviewed our medication administration procedures with staff and implemented a double-check system to ensure all required documentation is in place before any medication is administered in the future.. Regulation: All prescription medications must be in the containers in which they were originally dispensed and with their original labels affixed. Over-the-counter medications must be in the original manufacturer’s packaging., Unless otherwise specified in a child’s individual health care plan, the educator must store all medications out of the reach of children and under proper conditions for sanitation, preservation, security and safety during the time the children are in care and during the transportation of children.
