    There were eleven children in care. The extra child was [redacted]. Educator asked the assistant to take the child upstairs to call the parents, leaving her alone with ten children. Corrective action: On Wednesday 01/08/2025, [redacted] had an emergency in the [redacted] and asked me if I could watch [redacted] for 15 minutes while he submitted the paperwork. My assistant called him and told him he needed to pick her up as soon as possible. [redacted] wasn't at my home longer than 10 mins. Moving forward I will not accepting any children if I'm over my license number. I spoke with [redacted] informing them that they needed to find an alternative backup in case of any future emergency's.. Regulation: Licensed Capacity. Programs will be licensed for the maximum number of children who may be in the care of educators at any one time, taking into consideration the size and layout of the physical facility, the number and qualifications of educators, the equipment and resources available to the children, the individual needs and characteristics of the children served, and the building certificate capacity, if applicable.     The laundry closet is not locked leaving laundry materials within reach of the children. The door to the stairs does not stay closed allowing the children access to the stairs. Corrective action: I purchased a new lock for both the laundry room door and the door entering the childcare downstairs. It was replaced Friday 01/17/2025.. Regulation: Safety Requirements for Equipment, Materials and Furnishings. The licensee must only use indoor and outdoor equipment, materials, furnishings, toys, and games that are appropriate to the ages, needs and developmental level of the children enrolled. They must be sturdy, safely constructed and installed, non-tippable, flame retardant, easily cleaned, and free from lead paint, protruding nails, rust, and other hazards that may be dangerous to children., Educators must ensure that all hazardous objects, including but not limited to matches, lighters, toxic materials, sharp objects, plastic bags and purses are locked or inaccessible to children., Unless otherwise specified in a child’s individual health care plan, the educator must store all medications out of the reach of children and under proper conditions for sanitation, preservation, security and safety during the time the children are in care and during the transportation of children.
