At least one medication is not stored in its original packaging with the script label attached. Corrective action: The packaging is now at the school site. Provider by the parent. Regulation: All prescription medications must be in the containers in which they were originally dispensed and with their original labels affixed. Over-the-counter medications must be in the original manufacturer’s packaging., Unless otherwise specified in a child’s individual health care plan, the educator must store all medications out of the reach of children and under proper conditions for sanitation, preservation, security and safety during the time the children are in care and during the transportation of children. 7.11(03) — Health

One child with an Epi-pen does not have an IHCP on file or with the medication. Corrective action: ICHP is now at the school site. It was emailed to EL. Regulation: Individual Health Care Plans The licensee must maintain as part of a child’s record, an individual health care plan for each child with a chronic medical condition, which has been diagnosed by a licensed health care practitioner. The plan must describe the chronic condition, its symptoms, any medical treatment that may be necessary while the child is in care, the potential side effects of that treatment, and the potential consequences to the child’s health if the treatment is not administered. 7.10(09)(b) — Care of Children

Educators report that there are 2 preschool aged children in the pm program. There are no EEC certified educators on site in the afternoon. Corrective action: WE are working on moving staff around. We do have a EEC teaccher cert. person in the am program working the schedule around to get her back in the pm program. Regulation: Fixed Age Groups. Children may be assigned to groups with others within their same age range, as specified by the Department provided the requirements of 606 CMR 7.10(9)(b)1-6 are met. During the visit at least 3 children did not engage in the curriculum activities set out by the educators. Educators did not intervene and provide these children an opportunity to choose another activity, leading to running and unsafe behavior. Corrective action: The staff where all pulled into a meeting. A new schedule of activites was provided and onsite training will be done with all tehg staff on how to ingage with all kids.
