7.11(01) — Administration

During a review of the Staff Records Checklist, it was noted that at least one educator has not completed the EEC Essentials 2.0 as required. Corrective action: The teacher is working on completing the EEC Essentials 2.0. Expected to finish them by 5/29/2026. Regulation: Training. All educators must be trained in the program’s emergency and evacuation procedures, in standard precautions and in medication administration procedures. Cited during: Enhanced Monitoring Visit. 7.11(02)(c), 7.11(02)(e) — Health

During a review of medication it was noted that at least one child's medication was not stored in it’s original packaging with the pharmacy label affixed. Corrective action: The parent was contacted. The next medication will be sent in it's original package.. Regulation: All prescription medications must be in the containers in which they were originally dispensed and with their original labels affixed. Over-the-counter medications must be in the original manufacturer’s packaging., Unless otherwise specified in a child’s individual health care plan, the educator must store all medications out of the reach of children and under proper conditions for sanitation, preservation, security and safety during the time the children are in care and during the transportation of children. 7.04(04)(a)(01), 7.10(01), 7.10(02), 7.10(03), 7.10(04), 7.10(09) — Care of Children

During the visit, the program reports that the internet is down in the area. Educators did not have access to the daily attendance log. Corrective action: A few copies of the complete class list were printed and provided to the teachers. In the event of internet outages or other technical issues, teachers will use the physical copy for attendance.. Regulation: daily attendance records indicating each child’s attendance, including arrival and departure times;, The licensee must maintain sufficient numbers of qualified staff to promote the health, safety, growth and development of each child. Assignment of staff must take into account the physical environment, requirements of the activities children are engaged in, and the developmental levels and behavioral traits of children in care., Ratios: The program must have the number of educators necessary to:, Staff to Be Included in Ratios., Multi-Age Grouping. A group of children ranging in age from birth through thirteen years (or sixteen years, if such children have special needs), may be assigned on an ongoing basis to a single group, provided all provisions of 606 CMR 7.10(4) are met. 7.07(01), 7.11(07)(h) — Emergency Preparedness

The program does not conduct monthly evacuation drills. The program reports that they complete quarterly emergency evacuation drills with the local fire department. Corrective action: The EC Director created a monthly log to track evacuation drills. At the end of each month, the EC Director will conduct a drill if the Fire Department did not perform one that month.. Regulation: The licensee must ensure that the physical facilities are safe, clean, in good repair and free from hazards and clutter. The licensee must monitor the environment daily to identify and remove or repair any hazards that may cause injury to children. Exits and evacuation routes must be kept clear of obstructions., The educator must hold practice evacuation drills with all groups of children and all educators from each floor level of the approved space at least monthly. Drills must be held during different times of the program day, and must use alternative exits.
