During a review of attendance logs and informal conversations with the educators, license capacity continue to exceed EEC regulations. 7.07(01), 7.11(07)(h) — Emergency Preparedness

Program reports that they are not conducting monthly fired drills and are only documenting bi-annual fire drills conducted by the local fire department. Corrective action: Fire drills will be conducted and documented monthly. Regulation: The licensee must ensure that the physical facilities are safe, clean, in good repair and free from hazards and clutter. The licensee must monitor the environment daily to identify and remove or repair any hazards that may cause injury to children. Exits and evacuation routes must be kept clear of obstructions., The educator must hold practice evacuation drills with all groups of children and all educators from each floor level of the approved space at least monthly. During the visit an educator did not wash hands after applying topical ointment to a child's leg. During a medication review it was noted that the IHCP is expired. Corrective action: IHCP was updated. During a review of all Staff Files, it was noted that the new hires did not have complete files as required by EEC. At least 10 staff files did not have evidence of the following: Staff Orientation, a Current Physical, 2 MMR’s, BRC suitability letters in the personnel files, EEC Essentials 2.0 for new hires prior to working in the classroom with children, at least two staff that were hired over 6 months ago and had no evidence of 1st Aid, Corrective action: Staff files will be updated, we will be hosting a new FA and CPR class for teachers to get trained. In the toddler classroom, several learning areas appeared sparse with inadequate curriculum materials for the number of children present. The dramatic play areas/kitchen units were empty in one area there was a small number of toy foods. The program director did show the licensor consumables that have recently been purchased, however the licensor did not observe newly purchased toys for the children. During the renewal visit, the licensor observed clutter on top of shelves and cubbies in several classrooms. The observations included: Several Dunkin Donut iced drinks and food bags on shelves, at least three purses were on top of shelves along with bottles sippy cups and other items. Corrective action: Teachers were asked to clean their clutter and put their purses inside their classroom closet. Clean and throw away their drinks..
