HAR §17-892.1-18 — Staff-child ratio
The preschool is licensed for 75 children, ages 2 years to 7 years old. On August 19, 2025, this worker observed the following groups of children and staff: Ducklings (3 year old): 15 children enrolled and 14 present with 3 aides. Piggies (3 year old): 15 children enrolled and 14 present with 1 teacher and 1 substitute. Elephants (4 year old): 18 children enrolled and 16 present with 1 teacher and 1 aide. Pigeons (4 year old): 19 children enrolled and 18 present with 1 teacher and 1 aide. During the visit, the director stated that she doesn't have a lead teacher for the Ducklings classroom. However, the director submitted a Teacher Waiver request for one of the aides. The worker informed the director that until the Teacher Waiver is approved, the aide cannot be used as a lead teacher. Correction: On September 26, 2025, DHS approved teacher waiver for Aide in the Ducklings classroom. Staff-child ratio requirements are met.
