A Large Family Child Care Home may provide care for a maximum of: 1. 8 children from birth to 24 months of age. 2. 12 children with no more than 4 from birth to 24 months of age. There were [seven] children observed in care and their ages were [one infant, one 1 y/o; two 2 y/o's; two 3 y/o's; and one 5 y/o. ]. 402.302 (11), F.S., FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, Section 2.2.2 [SR] Comments: When Licensing Specialist (LS) arrived, only the employee was present with the children. The operator was not on the premises. However, she came back a few minutes later and explained that she had just walked down the road. The Operator stated that she now understands that if she is over the capacity of a regular FDCH, she must stay on the premises with the children at ALL times, to prevent this from occurring in the future. A maximum of four children from birth to 12 months of age. B. A maximum of three children from birth to 12 months of age, and other children, for a maximum total of six children. C. A maximum of six preschool children if all are older than 12 months of age. D. A maximum of 10 children if no more than 5 are preschool age and, of those 5, no more than 2 are under 12 months of age. 2.2.2 Large Family Child Care Home A large family child care home may provide care for one of the following groups of children, including household children under 13 years of age: A. The bedding available was not safe and poses a threat to the health, safety or well-being of a child in care. FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, Section 7.8, A, B and D Health Requirements [SR] Comments: A blanket was in the bedding (pack-n-play) around the (seven months old) childs head. The Operator removed the blanket when asked to do so by this LS. Operator stated that she will not put a blanket in the bedding of a child under 1 y/os in the future. Technical support was provided. All personnel that care for infants must follow safe sleep practices as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) as referenced in Caring for Our Children Basics Health and Safety Foundations for Early Care and Education, which is incorporated by reference in 65C-22.001(7)(v), F.A.C. The Operator took her out when LS informed her that it was not an acceptable bedding for the infant to nap. Operator said she will get an acceptable pack-n-play for her to nap on before tomorrow. One child that arrived around 9:00 am was not signed in on the Attendance. Two children that had already left were not signed out. The Operator signed her in and the other two children out during this inspection. She said she will double check the attendance every morning & afternoon to ensure that all children are signed in (and out) to prevent this from occurring again in the future.
