14. Outdoor Time, Fencing and Play Area Requirements FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, Section 7.6 (14-04)

A health and safety deficiency having a moderate potential for harm to the children in care was observed. FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, Section 7.6, A Comments: During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed two holes in the white panel fence. Large enough for children to place their fingers/hands through, which could cause harm to them. FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, section 7.6 Outdoor Time, Fencing and Play Area Requirements A. Outdoor Play areas shall be clean, in good repair and free from litter, nails, glass, and other hazards. C. The outdoor play areas must be enclosed with fencing or walls a minimum of 4 feet in height. The fence must not prevent the supervision of children. The fence must be in good condition and conform to applicable local building codes. Compliance Comments During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed the spa/jacuzzi to be empty and uncovered. The jacuzzi had a fence which separated it from the home to prevent the children from gaining access to it. Provider advised that the jacuzzi is only used by her family during the summer and is drained after each use. Licensing Specialist advised the Provider to always keep safety cover on the jacuzzi. Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance. FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, section 7.7 Swimming Pools B. All spas and hot tubs must meet the same barrier requirements for in-ground and above-ground swimming pools, or spas and hot tubs may be covered with a safety cover that meet the requirements of Section 515.25(1), F.S. at all times when children are in care. 16. Appropriate, Safe and Sanitary Bedding FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, Section 7.8 (16-03)

The bedding available for children in care was not sanitary. FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, Section 7.8, A Comments: During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed that several of the nap mats were torn/ripped and were being stored in the bathroom, along with the linen and bed sheets. FDCH/LFCCH Handbook, section 7.8 Appropriate, Safe and Sanitary Bedding A. A home must include a designated area where each child can sit quietly or lie down to rest or nap. Each child in care must be provided safe and sanitary bedding to be used when napping or sleeping. Linens must be washed at least once a week and more often if soiled or dirty. All bedding and linens must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized at least once a week and before use by another child. Bedding and linens, when not in use, must be stored in a sanitary manner which prevents the spread of germs or lice from other linens. Source: FL DCF CARES inspection 2025-01-21.
