36. Toxic/Hazardous Items (Article X.A) (36-10)

A fire hazard, [failed fire protection system verified by AHJ], was observed on the premises of the child care facility. Safety [SR] Comments: Palm Beach County Fire Rescue emailed the Department of Health, Kidstown Learning Center fire inspection report on 2/12/2026. This report was received by the Environmental Specialist II at 11:43AM that day. The status/result of the report was failed with a reinspection date of 2/19/2026. According to the Fire Rescue inspection report, AHJ notification phone lines are down. Additionally, action required per report is that the facility is to conduct an approved fire watch until the fire protection system returned to service and verified by the AHJ. At the time of the inspection, 2:59PM, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue notified the Department of Health with a report that the facility was cleared and taken off the fire watch. There are staff who failed to begin the Department's required 40-hour introductory child care training within 90 days of employment or complete the training within one year. Comments: Staff L.Z (date of hire at the facility 1/12/2026) has been in the industry since 7/29/2024 has not completed the required 40-hour introductory child care training. A toilet in the [3-year-olds and VPK Girls restrooms] area was not in working order and was not useable. Physical Facility [SR] Comments: While conducting the inspections, it was noticed that two toilets were not flushing. When the flush handles were operated, the contents of the toilets filled up to the rims and settled. This issue was noticed in the 3-year-olds and VPK Girls restrooms.
