The child safety alarm device on a vehicle regularly used to transport children was not maintained in working condition. Comments: When the bus (tag number Y26 URJ) was turned off and the beeping alarm initiated, the alarm could not be disarmed by pressing the said button required to do so. The driver attempted several times, but the issue repeated. He had to override the alarm by turning a key in a lock that is at the front of the bus, above the driver's seat.
