Child/ren were placed in a crib, playpen, play yard or other sleeping and napping bedding with items that could pose a strangulation or suffocation risk. CCF Handbook, Section 3.6.4, A Physical Environment [SR] Comments: During the routine inspection the licensing specialist observed that there were toys inside the cribs. According to the DCF CCF Handbook Section 3.6.4 A All personnel that care for infants must follow safe sleep practices as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) as referenced in Caring for Our Children Basics Health and Safety Foundations for Early Care and Education, which is incorporated by reference in 65C-22.001(7)(v), F.A.C. Cribs or playpens/play yards used for infants must have tight fitted sheets and no excess bedding, which includes but is not limited to: bumper pads, hanging mobiles, quilts, comforters, receiving blankets, pillows, stuffed animals and cushions. An area(s) of the facility was observed to not be in good repair. CCF Handbook, Section 3.1, A (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Physical Environment [SR] Comments: During the renewal inspection the licensing specialist observed that some of the classrooms needs some repair and cleaning. The licensing specialist observed that there were some broken toys, and the handwashing area was not clean. According to the DCF CCF Handbook Section 3.1 A. All childcare facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Any problems must be corrected before the play area is used by children. Documentation of the indoor play area inspection must be maintained for 12 months. B. It is the responsibility of the director/operator to ensure all areas and equipment of the facility are free from fire hazards, such as lint build up in heating and air vents, filters, exhaust fans, ceiling fans, and dryer vents. This includes grease build-up in ovens, stoves and food equipment. 13.
