The facility did not adequately keep the toilet and bath facilities used by the children clean and sanitized or disinfected posing a threat to the health, safety or well-being of the children. Physical Environment [SR] Comments: Restrooms must be cleaned and sanitized daily or as often as needed to prevent odors. Toilet was stained/dirty. Floor wasnt clean. Inspector entered the facility at 10:30 am and there was a urine smell. From Child Care Facility handbook: 3 Physical EnvironmentChildren are much more susceptible to the adverse effects of environmental factors, materials and toxicants. It is imperative that the child care environment is conducive to the healthy development of children. 3.7 Restrooms and Bath FacilitiesA. Each child care facility must provide and maintain bathroom facilities that are easily accessible, and at a height usable by the children. Platforms may be used if they are safely constructed and have an impervious surface that can be easily cleaned and sanitized. I. Each toilet and sink must be maintained in good operating condition, cleaned and sanitized or disinfected as needed, but at least once per day. Sinks utilized for teethbrushing activities/procedures by the children must be sanitized prior to the activity occurring. 3.11 Indoor Equipment B. Toys, equipment, and furnishings must be safe and maintained in a sanitary condition following a routine schedule of cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting. These items must be cleaned and sanitized or disinfected immediately or prior to another childs use if exposed to bodily fluids, such as saliva. Facilities must have a written routine schedule for cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting equipment, materials, furnishings and play areas. This schedule must include items to be cleaned, sanitized or disinfected on a daily or weekly basis. Daily indoor equipment items include but are not limited to: counter/table tops, toys, drinking fountains, floors, diaper pails, toilets, and sinks.
