15. Licensed Capacity CCF Handbook , Section 3.4 (15-03)
The facility did not have 35 square feet of usable floor space per child for the number of children observed in care. The facility had a capacity of [Six (6)] based on 35 square feet and [Eight (8)] children were observed in care. CCF Handbook , Section 3.4.2, D Physical Environment [SR] Comments: License Specialist observed that the facility did not have the useable floor space of 35 sq ft per child for the number of children observed in the Front Area designated for the Three (3) Year Old Area. Technical Assistance was given to the Provider as per the CCF Handbook that ( Usable indoor floor space refers to space available for indoor play, classroom, work area, or nap area. Each room routinely used as a classroom must provide the minimum 35 square footage of usable indoor floor space per child. The total number of children in care on-site and while on field trips may never exceed the facilitys licensed capacity.) Violation was corrected at the time of inspection by Provider removing Two (2) children from the classroom over capacity [Three (3) Year Old Front Area] and relocating the children in Classroom # 6 [Four (4) Year Old Classroom] correcting the Room Capacity now to 6 Children. In the form of efforts to assist licensees, the next violation of above standard within the next two years of last violation can result in disciplinary sanctions being progressively enforced by the Department imposing a fine in accordance to section 402.310 Florida Statues and Rule 65C-22.010, Florida Administrative Code. The facility failed to post the room capacity in each room. CCF Handbook, Section 3.4.1, A Physical Environment [SR] Comments: License Specialist observed that the facility failed to post the room capacity for Front Area: Three (3) Year old Classroom. License Specialist observed that as per the Capacity Calculator given and signed by the Provider at time of Initial Inspection, Five (5) out of Six (6) classroom capacity posted were incorrect. Technical Assistance was given to the Provider as per the CCF Handbook that ( A child care that had a valid license on October 1, 1992 must have a minimum of 20 square feet of usable indoor floor space for each child. This provision is not affected by a change of ownership as long as the program remains continuously licensed at the original site. A child care facility that did not hold a valid license on October 1, 1992 and seeks approval to operate as a child care facility must have a minimum of 35 square feet for each child. 23. Fire Drills & Emergency Preparedness CCF Handbook, Section 3.8 (23-05)
The facility did not have documentation of a fire extinguisher being properly maintained to include being serviced and retagged timely, and/or with a current certificate. CCF Handbook, Section 3.8.2, B Physical Environment [SR] Comments: Licensing Specialist observed that One (1) fire extinguisher near the food preparation area was not properly maintained. The Fire Extinguisher's pressure gauge was not within the safety zone (overcharging,) the extinguisher needed service by service technician. Violation was corrected at the time of inspection when the Service Technician arrived and replaced the Fire Extinguisher and the hook in which it rests on the wall in the Food Preparation area. License specialist completed and departed the Routine Inspection before completion of the Technical Service, however Provider did send the invoice of Fire Extinguisher Inspection and Paid Invoice to include a 5lb. Recharge. Last fire drill was conducted on 09/23/2024. One fire drill using an alternate evacuation route was done on 9/23/2024. One fire drill during napping/sleeping times was done on 9/23/2024 One fire drill in the presence and at the request of the licensing authority was done on 9/23/2024.
